Galleries: Zimbabwe Safari August 2009
In August of 2009 I returned to Zimbabwe for my first safari there since 2002. With my friend and safari manager, Chris Worden, I visited four camps. This gallery displays some of my photos from a very rewarding journey.
The Safari to Zimbabwe was a wonderful experience. Much has changed since my last visit there in 2002. Happily, I can say that I believe that Zimbabwe's slide into chaos has been halted and I see many signs of improvement. Inflation has stabilized with the adoption of the U.S. dollar as an official currency along with the Rand. Victoria Falls is busy with tourists, the streets are clean, and the stores are well stocked. As always, the people of Zimbabwe are friendly and the happy to have American tourists now that the U.S. State Department has removed travel restrictions.
If you ever have considered an African Safari, I would highly recommend Zimbabwe. The prices are a bargain and the animals are plentiful. The people are warm and travel there is safe. Now is a great time to visit!
